🧂 Ingredients
For the Meatloaf Layer:
1½ lbs ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
1 egg
½ cup breadcrumbs
¼ cup milk
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
½ cup ketchup (plus more for topping)
For the Mac and Cheese Layer:
2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (plus extra for topping)
Salt and pepper to taste
👩🍳 Instructions
Step 1: Make the Meatloaf Base
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder, ketchup, salt, and pepper.
Press the mixture evenly into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Bake for 25 minutes.
Step 2: Make the Mac and Cheese
While the meatloaf is baking, cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
Slowly whisk in milk, cooking until the sauce thickens (about 5 minutes).
Stir in cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
Add the cooked macaroni and stir until evenly coated.
Step 3: Assemble & Bake
Remove meatloaf layer from oven. Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top if desired.
Spoon the mac and cheese evenly over the meatloaf layer.
Sprinkle with extra cheddar cheese.
Return to oven and bake for 15–20 more minutes, until bubbly and golden on top.
Step 4: Serve & Enjoy
Let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Serve with a side salad or steamed veggies for a complete comfort meal.
