My nana said she ate this frequently growing up! I never heard of it but I loved the taste!.

I found myself going back for seconds (and maybe even thirds). It’s funny how food has the power to tell stories, to bring generations together, and to make you feel like you’re stepping into someone else’s shoes—just for a moment.

If you’ve never heard of this dish before, don’t worry—I hadn’t either. But I’m so glad I gave it a try. It’s earned a permanent spot in my own recipe rotation now, and every time I make it, I’ll be thinking of my Nana and the stories she told between bites.
