🥬 Put Raw Cabbage Wedges in a Slow Cooker with These 3 Ingredients — It’ll Wow You
Cabbage is one of the most underrated veggies in the kitchen — budget-friendly, packed with nutrients, and surprisingly versatile. But if you’ve only ever had it steamed or slathered in mayo as coleslaw, you’re seriously missing out.

There’s a simple slow cooker trick that transforms plain raw cabbage into something rich, tender, flavorful — and totally crave-worthy. All it takes is three common ingredients and a little patience. The result? A side dish (or even main course) that’s so good, you’ll want to make it on repeat.

🥘 The Magic of Slow Cooking Cabbage
Cabbage gets a bad rap for being bland or mushy — but that’s only if it’s cooked the wrong way. When slow cooked, it becomes buttery, caramelized, and infused with flavor from whatever it’s cooked with. It also holds its shape beautifully when cut into wedges.

🛒 What You’ll Need:
1 medium head of green cabbage, cut into 6–8 wedges

1 stick (1/2 cup) of butter

1 packet of onion soup mix (or 1 chopped onion + seasoning)

1/2 cup of chicken broth (or vegetable broth for a vegetarian version)

🧂 Optional: Add garlic cloves, a dash of smoked paprika, or a sprinkle of parmesan at the end.

🧑‍🍳 Instructions:
Prep the Cabbage: Rinse the cabbage and cut into thick wedges, leaving the core intact so they don’t fall apart.

Layer in Slow Cooker: Place the cabbage wedges in the slow cooker in a single layer (stack slightly if needed).

Add Ingredients:

Sprinkle the onion soup mix evenly over the cabbage.

Place pats of butter across the top.

Pour the broth around the sides (not over the top).

Cook Low & Slow:

Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until tender but still holding shape.

Serve & Enjoy: Carefully lift out the wedges and spoon the buttery broth over the top before serving.

😲 Why It Works
Butter makes everything better — it helps caramelize and soften the cabbage without turning it to mush.
