I Had No Clue About This: The Recipe That Totally Surprised Me
Okay, confession time: I used to walk right past the cabbage in the produce aisle. I thought of it as nothing more than coleslaw filler or a bland soup ingredient. But then I stumbled across a recipe that completely changed my perspective.
Cabbage. Steaks. Baked in the oven.
I had no clue something this simple could be so good.
Wait — Cabbage Steaks?
Yup. It sounds weird at first. You slice a head of cabbage into thick rounds, drizzle them with olive oil, season them generously, and roast them until they’re crispy on the edges and tender in the middle. That’s it. No boiling, no fuss. And the result? Pure magic.
Here’s the Recipe That Opened My Eyes
Ingredients:
1 medium green cabbage
2–3 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and black pepper to taste
Optional: garlic powder, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, grated parmesan, or fresh herbs
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Slice the cabbage into ¾ to 1-inch thick rounds. Keep the core intact to help the slices hold together.
Place the cabbage steaks on a lined baking sheet.
Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and any other spices you like.
Roast for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy on the edges.
Serve hot, and prepare to be shocked by how good they are.
Why I’m Obsessed Now
It’s budget-friendly. One cabbage can make several servings.
